Just a heads up for anyone looking at a Rough Country roof rack for their Bronco. First, if you like removing your hardtop then buy another brand. Second, the hardware the rack comes with is downright unsafe. They use a channel system with cheap t-nuts which you will never know if they are locked in position because they will rotate when you slide the rails on and when you tighten and aluminum Allen bolts that strip under any pressure. I’ve had this thing come apart after half a day of driving. Also, you’ll have to get creative if you want a light bar mounted to the front of the rack. I love how it looks though and price is decent so I swapped out the hardware with M8-1.25 x 16mm Flanged Hex Head Bolts and nuts. The bolts slide into the channels perfectly and won’t come out. I used blue loctite to lock the threads and now its solid and safe. Customer service from RC wasn’t a great experience. They give no issues on returns but seem to care less about feedback. I also bought the RC steps and a 40” light bar from them which I’m happy with those products. Also you can use an Amazon equal pay setup to pay over time with no extra charges. Hope this helps someone

Thanks for the warning and sharing what you did to fix the issues. Have you had a load on it yet? How was that if so?

No load on it yet. The metal rails and mounts are very sturdy. I don’t see it having a problem handling the weight the hardtop is rated for. Personally only need it once a year to transport a Christmas tree

Counterpoint if you have any roofrack it will need to be removed to remove the top.

Great point! I for one have ZERO interest in removing my roof or a sun or moon roof. The great majority of my travels are in the south-west where the sun is brutal. I had a skin cancer scare and want no part of that again.

There are roof racks out there that allow you to remove the driver and front passenger roof panels

Correct. That however is the panels not the roof. I love my roof rack and other then my custom stripes gets the most compliments of anything I have on my Bronco. I did however need a metal grinder to trim it so my front panels would clear.
