Hi!

I just purchased a 2025 Bronco Sport outerbanks. The dealer said they don't come with a spare and instead include a kit to patch/repair the tire temporarily. We prefer to have a spare in the back, and I do see an area under the cover in the trunk for one to go; however, I keep reading different things on Reddit.

Some say no spare/compact tire fits back there, others say a compact tire will fit, but don't specify size or where they got it.
I was looking at this spare from modern spare, but would like to make sure it would fit before we purchase.

Does anyone have any insight?
I appreciate it!

I bet @Melissa Clark might have some input, I am sure she has used a spare a time or two.

Measure diameter of cavity in back, call discount tire and tell them you want a spare that will fit in this cavity, full size if possible, or compact. They will have a product for you. Not familiar with Modern Spare but they should be able to do the same for you. My 2024 Badlands has a full size spare but I have 17" wheels. Good luck.

When my mom purchased a 2021 Ford Edge, had no spare tire. I drive her from TX to VA and back once a year. I was not making that trip without a spare. We found one online on ebay that fit under the cover in the back. Its it is a temporary spare with speed limitations to 55 mph. The seller ratings were positive and we had no issues with shipping and it fit fine.

Your link to a spare seems on track. I did find on ebay sells one for your 2025 BS.

Just my 2 cents worth! Hope you find one.

Yes, I did an article on this very subject. Since I have a 2025 Sport, along with a 2022, I could do a side by side comparison. They are both Badlands models, but I believe there is no difference in the size of the cargo area dedicated to that spare. https://thebronconation.com/news/ti...-what-you-need-to-know-before-you-go-t.22202/
As you can see in the photos, the new Territory tire does not fit in the cargo area, so they provided a "smaller" spare. Since your Outer Banks comes with an A/T, I believe it may be smaller than the Territory. If so, a full sized spare would fit. So, how do you know? If it was me, I'd put some jack stands under your baby, and take one wheel/tire off and see if it fits. I bet even Discount Tire or some such shop would do it for you, especially if you're buying a spare from them. I'm disappointed Ford chose to go in that direction, especially for an off-roader like me. Hope this helps.

Sorry no help here but I got a 2025 Heritage and it also came with the kit which makes a little bit nervous as I’d have no clue how to use it.

Melissa did an article on the basics of this as well, and depending on what they supply in the kit, it may help you.

I just acquired a 2025 Bronco Sport Big Bend (basic model) and when I found out that it didn't have a spare tire, I started to investigate. Before that, I decided to try if one of the regular tires actually fits in the spare tire compartment. To my surprise, the wheel (a 225/65 17) fits into that compartment very well. The wheel fits so well that you can't tell the difference when the cover is on. I don't know if in previous models a regular wheel doesn't fit, but it seems that Ford at least had that in mind. I say this because where the lid of the compartment hooks, there is a slot higher up to hook it when you have a regular wheel. Yes, you will lose a small amount of space, but it is not much, I guess the lit is about 2 inches higher with the regular wheel. In my case, I am going to buy a wheel of the same size as the factory one (again a 225/65 17), this will give me peace of mind that if one of my tires breaks on the side, I will have a way to resolve the situation. I say this last part because the solution provided by Ford (the small compressor with the adhesive) would not work in those cases. For those of you with a bigger tire like the 255/75 17 and the 255/70 18 try to test fit it, if they don’t fit you can still use a 225/65 17. I believe his confirms the post from DanB568.
On the other hand, you have to take into account that when you change the tire in an emergency, if you have a 255/75 17 or a 255/75 18 probably will not fit well in the compartment since they are 32” in diameter while the 225/65 17 is only 28.5” in diameter.

Nice bit of research. My 2024 Sport Badlands also came with a full-size spare. But it is smaller than what is on the road. So if I have to swap them out, it won’t fit in the compartment either

That looks crappy. Rear deck is floating on the spare. Plus more importantly it's unsafe. Do you need a spare that badly you risk putting that non- secured 50lb monster in the back of you BS? If you're in a collision that unsecured spare will kill you or a passenger. C'mon, use some common sense.

FWIW, if you get hit hard enough the make a full spare tire and wheel fly up out of the trunk well and hit somebody in the cabin that truly is the least of your problems. If anything it gives more buffer for impact like water barrels on a track. I've done alot of road trips through areas where a patch kit would get you killed and they do nothing for a blowout. I did the same with my Mustang and lost a little storage height but not much. Mine is in their snug and could not fly out in an accident l, it takes deliberate intent to be removed.

Or just buy the bolt and nut that holds it in place? Did Ford not install that piece of metal on the bottom it screws into?

And doesn't the rear cargo cover sit in notches meant to hold it? If so, it's the same location it will sit with a donut or other narrow spare.

I have a 2025 Bronco Sport Outer Banks, with 225/60R18 (Wheel Width: 7.5”) OEM tires and 5x108 bolt pattern on the wheel.

My research tells me that a 155/85R18 is the right fitment for our vehicle (for temporary use) and will fit in the small compartment for a spare in the storage area. That’s a temporary (donut) tire. A full-size tire will not fit in the compartment. And Ford does not sell any sort of spare for the 2025 Sport Outer Banks.

Both ModernSpare and EZ Spare do sell one they say is the right size, but I haven’t pulled the trigger on either one yet:

I am in the same boat. I want a buy temporary use spare that will fit in the 2025 Bronco Sport Big Bend and permit the cover to close property. Can anyone share one that they have bought that fits and will work with the Bronco Sport Big Bend? I don't love the temporary spare solution but really don't want to rely on the can and pump. Thanks

I just bought a 2025 Bronco Sport Big Bend. I also own a 2005 Corvette Roadster with no spare tire. All late model Vette's have no room for spares. Also front and rear tires and wheels are different diameters. So I have a kit like the Bronco to blow up a tire if flat. I guess since I have to live with it on the Vette I will live with it on the Bronco !!
